What a credit to Bedford & Western Pennsylvania, very healthy food and drinks. Catie and Kelly give great service and are very knowledgeable about the food & drinks.

This place really excited me, I am not into health food like some folks are, but if I could dine here daily I would be quite pleased.
Located in the middle of downtown historic Bedford, The Green Harvest Co. is a cafe offering a full coffee and tea bar and fruit smoothies. They have a huge variety of iced or hot coffees and chai teas, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolates and more flavors of smoothies than I have ever seen. They have soy milk, raw sugar and honey for the very serious health fanatics.
An in house bakery where they make scones, cookies, biscottis and other snacks and an area which sells their own jarred salsas, spreads, mustard's and spices. They have a variety of their own prepackaged dips and spread mixes to finish off at home. Can you hear my excitement!
The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings and works of art from local artists which are for sale and have no price tag on them. I did fall in love with one and my daughter agreed it was her favorite as well, but I was afraid to ask the price and I was there to have breakfast.
Homemade granola's, yogurts with fresh fruit, the multi grain toast, oat and organic grain pancakes and a warm grain bowl of organic wheat, oats, barley, soybeans, buckwheat, corn and millet to warm your belly and stick to your ribs. They have fruit fillers for the pancakes and cream cheese fluff for the tops. Vegans and vegetarians would have a field day in this place.
Did I stick with the healthy theme? Hellz no, I had myself a southwest burrito, a flour tortilla stuffed with scrambled eggs, sausage ( you can choose between bacon, sausage or ham or go meatless) cheddar cheese, onions, jalapeno peppers galore, tomatoes and spices, served with a side of their beyond awesome hot salsa and sour cream.
With this came a side of their harvest potatoes which were good but could have used some onions, peppers and grease. I could have had fresh fruit instead but come on, I did wash it all down with a pineapple and coconut smoothie. We shared a breakfast appetizer of breakfast nachos, corn chips, scrambled eggs, melted cheddar cheese, crisp bacon, chopped tomatoes, peppers, sliced black olives and red onion with a side of salsa and sour cream.
My daughter had a mocha latte in the largest bowl of a coffee cup I have ever seen and the Taste of Greece, half the plate was filled with fresh baby spinach and the other half was filled with a nice variety of fresh fruit. On top of the spinach laid fluffy scrambled eggs topped with sliced black olives, feta cheese, fresh tomatoes and herbs. It was a beautiful plate and I am glad she is staying healthy.
Speaking of plates, they are vibrant colors of the rainbow and made of stoneware, very cheery. Before I left I stocked up on some spices and spread and dip mixes and I had to buy their salsa. Oh and they make and sell Bedford caviar which is a kicked up black bean salsa. I bought four scones, some macaroons and cookies to bring home for good luck.
Any one of us can order their products on line, but I am next anxious to try their lunch and homemade soups, so I know I will be back. My only downside to this cafe was my daughter took what we could not eat into work with her to have for lunch and being so health and environmentally conscious I was amazed when we were handed a Styrofoam container.
I have since heard from the owner and the container is biodegradable material #6.
The food, the atmosphere, the decor and the whole concept and variety is grand. I loved it and I can not wait to try the Bedford caviar and the jalapeno mustard.

Upon arriving for the beginning of our touring Bedford County during the weekend of August 15, 2009, the family needed breakfast to start the day's activities. This cafe, speciality food shop, bakery and coffee house is a keeper. Walking downtown later in the day to do some shopping in the town's many small shoppes, we noticed the Green Harvest was jammed. A sure indication of success. Nice service, good food and affordable. Can't beat that.

We spotted this cafe in the Bedford Town Guide and made a beeline for it for breakfast after a particularly bad night in a local motel. Staff were really nice and after a number of highly priced, artificial and small breakfasts experienced during the holiday, this was a breath of fresh air. Cant recommend it enough - returned the next morning for a bowl of homemade granola which was great. Nice selection of deli bits on sale also, some of them made by the cafe (bought a bag of granola for the memories and some nice spices for dips). Shame it didn't open at night but you cant have everything.

We ate lunch here on a recent trip to Bedford, and were really pleased. The place is small and casual, provides good service, and the food (of the sandwich and salad variety) was fresh, healthy, creative and delicious. They also have an impressive coffee menu (I counted over 50 flavors that can be added) and a range of home-made flavored ice teas and lemonades. How nice not to eat in a chain! How delicious to enjoy in-season vegis and fruits incorporated into the specials!

My wife Michele and I visited your café a couple weekends ago while enjoying a short overnight getaway at the Bedford Springs Resort. We arrived early on Friday and enjoyed a late lunch at the Green Harvest Co. Café. And, we liked it so much, we came back for breakfast the next morning.
I don’t normally do such things but wanted to write to let you know how much we enjoyed your café. The atmosphere was cool, the food was great and the service was excellent. Personally, I grew up in the restaurant business and I know how hard and sometimes unforgiving the work can be. However, you and your people have created something special and not only will we be back but will make a point of telling our friends to visit.
Good luck to you in the future. By the way, your coffee is excellent and I don’t know how you make your omelets but I sure can’t make them that good.
Thanks for a wonderful experience,
Shep

We just returned from a few day vacation in Bedford and we loved it so much we ate here everyday at least once! My husband is a Vegan, I am not and they had a great menu. They also have a nice kids menu. The prices are good and the staff are very nice. Vangie was especially nice and helpful. Thanks for the great service and food. We only wish it was also open for dinner, then we could have eaten there even more!

I second the thought that it would be great to have a place like yours in Altoona/Hollidaysburg! I love the food and the atmosphere - keep up the great work!

My husband and I had lunch at your place today. We enjoyed the food(lentil and cauliflower soups and the roast beef panini), we also enjoyed the atmosphere, much more enjoyable than those fast food places. Your resturant was clean and the staff was very friendly. We'll be back!

Bedford"ites" are raving-"Where have you been all our lives?" This is just what this town needed. You are doing a great job Kim, along with your staff. Your food is amazing and the choices are hard to make at times, which just keep me coming back for more. I am vowing to try everything you offer on your menu at least once--so long willpower. Best of Luck

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed stopping in for our first visit last Saturday. We were the girls from Altoona, Hollidaysburg, and Pittsburgh. I wish you were in Altoona or Hollidaysburg. Your food selection is incredible, the coffee choices exceptional, and the service was friendly and timely. Just checked out your website. It's very well done. Nice to know that someone in the food service bus can serve healthy food in a creative and tastey manner. Can't wait to try out the rest of your extensive menu. Bedford is lucky to have you in town.

Thank you! I placed an initial order for holiday gifts, and my three college-age children loved the dips - I need to replenish before gift giving time! Thanks for your excellent products and your quick
service.
